District Leadership

Good Day Hawthorn Academy Eagles! My name is Floyd Stensrud, Lead Director. I have been with Hawthorn Academy for three years, and it has been a truly wonderful experience. The students are amazing and the professional staff of Hawthorn is second to none. My educational experience extends over many years with several of those being an English and reading teacher and an administrator at the Utah State prison, the high school, and the middle school. 

My interest in teaching actually began after completing high school. I discovered that some of my most enjoyable classes in college had less to do with the subjects themselves, and more to do with how my professors engaged us as their students with what they were teaching and how they taught it. I was fascinated by the talent many of them had to create meaningful connections with their students. That idea sparked a desire in me to pursue a career in education.  This is my ninth year at Hawthorn.

Hello! I am Mrs. Garcia. I’ve been in education for 13 years and have been at Hawthorn since 2017, working as a teacher, IB Coordinator, and most recently, Curriculum and Assessment Director. I earned my bachelor’s degree from BYU-Idaho in 2012 and my master’s in Educational Leadership in 2022.

Vice Principal Michelle Petrulsky serves as the Vice Principal at Hawthorn Academy, where she is dedicated to supporting students, families, and teachers in creating a positive and successful school community. With more than 20 years of experience in education, including over seven years as Vice Principal at Hawthorn, she brings both stability and strong leadership to the school.
