I am delighted to be teaching 6th grade at Hawthorn Academy.  This is my 16th year teaching.  My husband and I have a busy family with four children, and two cats.  

Some of my favorite things include traveling, learning about new cultures, meeting new people and learning new languages.  American history is one of my favorite topics (and passions to teach).  I love a good story - movies, theater, books, TV... all the different formats! Anything that has to do with Harry Potter brings me joy.  

I love my students, and value what I learn from each and every one of them.  Working with kids makes me happy, and I feel lucky to do that every day. Students deserve a nurturing, safe and happy place to love learning.

I graduated from Brigham Young University-Hawaii with a dual license in elementary and special education. My Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional design is from Western Governors University.  I love being a 'lifelong learner.'
