Jennine Watson

2nd Grade

Hello! I’m Mrs. Jennine Watson, and I’m so excited to be part of the Hawthorn Academy South Jordan community! I graduated from Weber State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and hold an ESL Endorsement through the State of Utah. I have 12 years of teaching experience in grades K–3, and this will be my fifth year teaching second grade. I especially love helping students build confidence as readers and mathematicians while encouraging them to explore their curiosity, express their individuality, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

I have a true passion for working with young learners and feel incredibly lucky to be part of their journey as they grow academically, socially, and personally. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. I especially love teaching reading and helping students discover the joy and confidence that comes from becoming strong readers. I also enjoy incorporating art and music into our learning to make lessons engaging, creative, and memorable.

This year, we are excited to compete again with the other second grade classes in our Battle of the Books! We are proud to be the reigning champions and can’t wait to see if we can defend our title. More information about the competition will be coming soon!

Although I was born in Utah, I grew up moving around the country as part of a military family. My husband, Adam, and I have called Herriman home since we were married in 2006. We recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a trip to St. Thomas and St. John—both were absolutely gorgeous! We are the proud parents of three wonderful children, ages 17, 15, and 11, along with a dog and three cats who keep life at home fun and busy!

When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my family. We enjoy traveling (especially anywhere with a beach!), camping, boating, and attending concerts and musical theater performances. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growing, and making memories with your second graders in 2026-27!
